Frequency Analysis of the Railway Track under Loads Caused by the Hunting Phenomenon

Hunting is a potentially dangerous phenomenon related to the lateral oscillation of wheels that impacts rails and causes wear infrastructure’s components. Therefore, analysis timely detection hunting can lead application corrective maintenance tasks, reducing damages, costs even derailments as result. In this work, vibration response finite element model rail with hunting-induced loads by single wheel analyzed in three directions: longitudinal, lateral, vertical. The contact patch forces are calculated means Simpack® using Kalker linear theory Hertz theory. system solved Newmark-β approach. results deflection analysis, following proposed methodology, show how different characteristics impact rail.
